Evidence summary

Research confidence: medium

Review of 22 studies found tyrosine preserves cognitive performance specifically under acute stress/cognitive-load conditions (sleep deprivation, cold, multitasking) but not in non-stressed states; commonly effective doses used in trials ranged ~500 mg-2 g (some lab RCTs instead dosed by bodyweight, 100-150 mg/kg). Reference raised to 1 g (2026-10-02): ATHLEAN-X's pre-workout guide cites 1-2 g (1.5 g sweet spot); 500 mg sits at the bottom of the trial range.
