Evidence summary

Research confidence: low

No reference dose. Juniper berry is a traditional herbal remedy for increasing urine flow, and the European Medicines Agency found no published clinical studies of it at any dose, so its approval is based on tradition alone. The traditional amount is about 2-2.5 g of crushed berries brewed as a tea, two or three times a day; a 150 mg extract of unstated strength can't be compared with that, and no study links juniper to exercise performance or fluid balance during training.
